Arrived! Days 1 & 2

Hello all!

pictures: beach, lighthouse (with the pier), more beach, newcastle bridge... their trademark basically.

I'm here in Newcastle :) We saw Mario Batali at the airport. Seriously. (go google...) Yeah that was pretty cool. Flight was long, 6 hr trip to London then 1hr up to Newcastle = arriving here at 11am and sleeping for about 3 hrs total on the plane. Not good for me. So we got our luggage, met up with the fabulous Chris Burrow. Loaded our unbelievably heavy luggage and departed for our dorms (accomodations). Had 2 hours of free time before meeting, during which I carried my 40lb (each) suitcases up to the 3rd floor and unpacked/tried to organize everything. I guess it paid off carrying heavy stuff over the summer. then we met up and walked to get some food/wander around. more wandering. taking pictures. ate dinner. walked down to the river. took pictures of the bridge and more wandering. a forever walk down. took the bus up part of the way. walked even more (cause i think we went in circles) setup internet! the showers are weird btw. and the outlets. and the money.

day 2: overslept. woke up and met up with the group, a little late. took pictures for our id cards. (horrible looking) and wandered briefly thru the library... kinda not really. walked to the market again. got a cell phone :) really expensive though. bought more food.... cereal of course. the names of stuff are the same/different. Bounty paper towels = Plenty etc. today we took the metro to tynemouth. where the tyne river meets north sea. walked around there. ate chicken bites and chips. wasnt quite adventurous for the fish and chips just yet. walked thru the castle. took pictures. went down to the pier which is 2/3 of a mile long (each way) took more pictures. took a stone from by the lighthouse at the end of the pier. walked back (too much walking). decided to be different and not go back to uni. a few of us went to the beach. really pretty but the water was freezing. still worth a good picture and laughs. saw a bunch of little kids (under 10) long jumping in the sand in their school uniforms. got dinner (from subway. i know i know.) went back and ate with some friends. yay! walked back to our accomodation and thought about packing. we leave tomorrow for london for the weekend. i've been eating some of the cookies jackie made me. despite the fact that its 1230am here. and... that's it.

skype/email :)
